Peter Rich, an architect, a facilitator and an activist based in South Africa, gave the keynote address. He is known for donned brick architecture. He had a talk on “Creation of Aesthetic Contemporary African Architecture”. He advised architects to move out side the comfort zones of the normal stereotype buildings. He believes that architecture should be a thing that can be smelt, touched and tasted – creating a different world out of earth. The Alexandra Interpretation Centre, which celebrates Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg, is an important contribution of Peter Rich. He reminded students not to get scared to work in India; 96% of Indians need you and learn first what Indians need.
