4th August 2019 marked the day for the first passing out ceremony of B.Arch 2014 – ’19 and the 16th passing out ceremony of MBA 2017 – ’19 Batches.
The renowned architect Eugene Pandala, recipient of the first Laurie Baker award by Lalit Kala Academy apart from many other awards was one of the key note speakers for the function. He commented that the students are privileged to initiate their career in a campus with nature around them. Listing out the host of opportunities available to architecture students, he commented that they need not lament about their skills at drawing if they are not blessed with that skill. Dr. Justin Paul, Professor at Rollins College, Florida and Distinguished Visiting Scholar at IIM Kozhikode who was the other key note speaker, spoke about the need for graduating students to groom themselves as globally competitive. He said hard work, team work and net work are essential elements one needs to develop in this ultra competitive world. Ms. Sujata Madhav Chandran – Global Head – Asset Leveraged Solution, Analytics and Insights unit at TCS while delivering her valedictory address stressed on the need to develop one’s own creativity, nurturing diversity, breaking the stereotypes that exist within oneself and investing in learning digital technology.
The passing out procession of students was led by a caparisoned elephant and chanda melam – marking the celebration of the day. It was a day of mixed emotions as joy turned into sadness as many realized they may not be able to be together again. But the beaming proud faces of the parents and students marked the end of the journey for those two batches of students, while yet another batch of B.Arch students were joining the campus on the same day.
